Jindal Stainless’s Jajpur unit in Odisha has been named a Top Performer in the Iron and Steel category at the Odisha State Energy Conservation Awards 2025. The recognition highlights the plant’s strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainable manufacturing.
The Jajpur unit received the award for the first time, which is a big step forward in its road towards sustainability. This recognition shows the company’s continued efforts to improve energy efficiency while setting higher standards for responsible manufacturing in the iron and steel sector.
Senior government officials from Odisha presented the award at a state-level ceremony, highlighting the importance of energy conservation across industries in the state.
As per the company, energy responsibility is deeply integrated into its day-to-day operations, rather than treated as a separate initiative. Structured energy management systems, consistent monitoring, and process improvements have helped the Jajpur unit reduce energy use while maintaining strong operational performance.
According to the management, such recognitions indicate long-term investments in greener practices and encourage teams to work hard to achieve lower emissions, more efficiency, and sustainable growth.
The Odisha State Energy Conservation Awards are organised annually by the Government of Odisha on National Energy Conservation Day. They recognise organisations that make meaningful contributions to energy savings and efficiency across industrial sectors.
This latest recognition adds to Jindal Stainless’s growing list of sustainability achievements. Earlier in 2025, the company’s Hisar and Jajpur units also received national-level awards for energy management and efficiency.
Energy efficiency has become a key focus area for India’s steel sector, which is among the country’s most energy-intensive industries. With rising power costs and tighter environmental norms, steelmakers are increasingly adopting structured energy management, digital monitoring, and process optimisation to reduce consumption and emissions.
Such state-level recognition is also indicative of Odisha’s broader efforts to encourage industries to increase productivity, reduce carbon emissions, and support India’s long-term sustainability and climate goals.
Hence, this further strengthened Jindal Stainless’s position as a key player in environmentally responsible manufacturing in India’s stainless steel industry.
