Artist Carole A Feuerman’s iconic sculptures are superrealistic and awe-inspiring. We bring you the ‘Survival of Serena’ as it uses stainless steel as material.
Five of Carole A Feuerman’s iconic swimmers were at the Seaport of New York City, till November 2024. Overlooking the East River and with the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop, the sculptures were a part of an open-air exhibition.
Renowned for her Superrealist style, Feuerman has meticulously honed her craft over the past five decades. Her sculptures possess an uncanny resemblance to living beings, rendering them almost indistinguishable from actual people, were it not for their imposing or miniature proportions. She often captures women in serene, meditative poses adorned with glistening water droplets. Instead, they engage with their surroundings, inviting the rain to caress their surfaces and breathe life into their forms.
The ‘Survival of Serena’ is one of Feuerman’s most captivating works, while ‘Justice’ presents a poised woman in a graceful lotus pose, perched upon a gleaming, polished stainless steel sphere. The dimensions of ‘Justice’ are 112 x 86 x 86 inches, and it is made of patinated bronze and stainless steel. As you gaze upon it, the sculpture mirrors both your own reflection and the surrounding environment.
