Jindal Stainless Signs Technical Assistance Agreement with Japan’s JFE Steel

Jindal Stainless has entered into a Technical Assistance Agreement with Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities for selected ferritic stainless steel grades.

Under the agreement, JFE Steel will provide technical assistance to Jindal Stainless, with a focus on improving product quality, manufacturing practices and process efficiency for the grades covered under the arrangement.

The collaboration brings together the manufacturing capabilities of one of India’s leading stainless steel producers and JFE Steel’s technical expertise in ferritic stainless steel. The partnership is expected to support Jindal Stainless in further strengthening its production processes and operational capabilities.

Commenting on the agreement, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, said, “The future of manufacturing will be shaped by materials that deliver superior performance, sustainability, and value. Stainless steel, as a group of diversified high-performance alloys, is emerging as the material of choice across industries.”

He further highlighted the growing relevance of ferritic stainless steel for applications where durability, corrosion resistance and cost efficiency are important considerations.

“At Jindal Stainless, we are committed to continuously enhancing our technological capabilities by cooperation with the world’s best. JFE Steel’s decades of expertise in ferritic stainless steel manufacturing will help us further strengthen product quality and operational excellence,” Jindal added.

According to the company, the agreement forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen technology adoption, manufacturing efficiency and the development of higher-value stainless steel products. The technical cooperation is also intended to enhance the capabilities of Jindal Stainless’ people, processes and manufacturing practices.

Strengthening Ferritic Stainless Steel Capabilities

Ferritic stainless steels are increasingly being considered for applications that require a combination of corrosion resistance, durability and cost efficiency. Their use spans several sectors, including automotive, infrastructure, railways, construction, process industries and industrial machinery.

Through the agreement, Jindal Stainless will gain access to JFE Steel’s experience in ferritic stainless steel manufacturing. The technical support is expected to contribute to consistent product quality and improved manufacturing practices across the specified grades.

The cooperation also reflects the growing importance of technical partnerships in the stainless steel industry, as producers seek to improve process efficiency, enhance product performance and develop materials suited to evolving customer requirements.

Focus on Technology and Manufacturing Efficiency

Jindal Stainless has been expanding its focus on technology, operational excellence and value-added stainless steel products as demand for advanced materials continues to grow.

The company reported an annual turnover of ₹42,955 crore in FY2026 and has an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes. Its manufacturing and processing network comprises 16 facilities across India and overseas.

The technical assistance agreement with JFE Steel is centred on manufacturing and technology cooperation, with no separate financial consideration disclosed for the arrangement.

For Jindal Stainless, the partnership represents another step towards strengthening its technical capabilities and manufacturing practices, while leveraging global expertise to address the evolving requirements of stainless steel customers.
