
Stainless Steel Summit 2025
Day 2 of the Global Stainless Steel Expo (GSSE) 2025 opened to yet another explosion of knowledge sharing and business networking. As more visitors from the industry thronged the Expo, the exhibitors had a busy day with business meetings in the buyer-seller lounge, networking coffee sessions in the VIP lounge and interactions over product displays at their individual booths. The well-organised Expo allowed visitors with ample time and space to visit every stall and converse with relevant principals. The exhibitors, too, got to meet with the buyer fraternity at their own pace, forging connections that would last a lifetime. The Stainless Steel Summit 2025 offered in-depth discussions by key opinion leaders of the industry. It was moderated by conference producer Shriyal Sethumadhavan
The first panel discussion for the day was on the topic of Advancing Rural Infrastructure. It was moderated by Dr Kamachi Mudali, Vice Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute. The speakers included Shri Praveen Kumar Agrawal, Chief Engineer and Executive Director, Central Public Works Department; Vivek Taneja, Managing Director, Suma India; CP Agrawal, CEO, Synergy Advanced Metals; and Sanjay Sharma, Former Executive Vice President, L&T Special Steels and Heavy Forgings. The expert panel introduced fresh ideas on the development of India’s rural landscape and highlighted the role of stainless steel in this process. The need to penetrate deeper into India’s agrarian development with non-corrosive and sustainable materials such as stainless steel is indeed what the future holds, as was evident in this panel discussion at the Stainless Steel Summit 2025.
From rural landscape the conversation moved to urban mobility as the next panel revolved around – Transforming the Urban Mobility Landscape: Innovations in Rail, Freight, EVs and Sustainable Infrastructure. In this particular panel at the Stainless Steel Summit 2025, given the rapid urban development in India, it was highlighted that stainless steel will continue to play a crucial role in building long-lasting infrastructure, reliable construction solutions and a easier lifestyle for the growing urban population. Moderator Sameer Bhatnagar, Partner – Mobility & Logistics Solutions, KPMG Speakers, engaged the esteemed speakers in a detailed discussion about the different aspects of urban mobility. The panelists included Dr Sanjeev Kumar Lohia, Former OSD & EO Joint Secy (Urban Transport), MoHUA; Amol Khair, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Aakar Abhinav Consultants; Anil Kumar Agarwal, Chief Maintenance Officer, DB RRTS Operations India; Rajdeep Bhattacharya, Vice President, RRSM Infra (Metro Infra); and Harsh Dingra, Management Consultant (Rail and Metro), Former Chief Country Representative, Bombardier Transportation India.
The third panel discussion on Day 2 at the Stainless Steel Summit 2025 was on Blue Economy and Stainless Steel in Marine Infrastructure. With governmental policies coming into play for coastal development, this was a relevant topic, moderated by Sachidanand Choubey, Associate Director, Research Crisil Intelligence. The speakers included S Sittarasu, Strategic Advisor – Haldia & Kolkata Port, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways; RD Tripathi, Executive Director & CEO, Mumbai Port Sustainability Foundation; Omank Naithani, Head-Business Development (South), Jindal Stainless; and Purushothama Reddy, Director – Business Development, Outokumpu Chennai. The experts shed light on the growth potential for stainless steel in marine infrastructure and coastal development.
Day 2 of the Stainless Steel Summit 2025 concluded with an interesting tete-a-tete on Advancements in Heavy Engineering and Energy. Moderated by Anwesh Majumder, Director, Deloitte, the session covered the key challenges faced in engineering vis-à-vis stainless steel. The speakers included Deepak Vaidya, Business Head, Outokumpu India; Ashish Saraf, Business Head – EPC Division, Evolve Green Energies; Dr Mrigesh Verma, Head (R&D), RAAJ Tubes; and Dr GH Thanki, Director & Principal Consultant, Corrosion Control & Monitoring.
It was a productive day for the Workshop on Welding and Fabrication, too, as the expert-led session on Design Considerations for Structural Applications witnessed a healthy turnout of minds eager to learn. The Workshop was curated and executed by Sujata Sahay, Founder, IndiaWelds.
As the day came to an end, the visitors and delegates alike returned with their quota of knowledge and business deals. They were enthusiastic to be part of GSSE 2025 and the Stainless Steel Summit 2025’s final day, and expressed optimism towards an even more successful Day 3.
