Shyam Metalics Launches New Advanced Stainless Steel Grades and Records Growth

Shyam Metalics & Energy Ltd (SMEL) has launched 904L Super Austenitic Stainless Steel along with Duplex and Super Duplex Steels. The company says these advanced grades set higher benchmarks for strength, durability, and corrosion resistance under the most challenging industrial environments.

These products will serve critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, marine, and chemicals. With this expansion, SMEL reaffirmed its focus on innovation, quality, and long-term global competitiveness. Its advanced portfolio already includes billets, bars, wires, and wire rods.

The company has built a strong international presence in recent years. Stainless steel solutions from SMEL now reach Japan, Korea, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and other regions. Therefore, the addition of high-performance grades underlines its ambition to grow as a trusted global supplier.

In August, SMEL posted record sales of stainless longs. The company sold more than 9,300 metric tonnes, up 33 per cent from August last year. The rise came from rising domestic demand as well as diversification in its product range.

In July, SMEL boosted stainless steel output by 42.16 per cent compared with last year. Production touched 8,102 metric tonnes against 5,699 metric tonnes earlier. However, average realisation, or selling price, declined by nearly 4.58 per cent during the month.

Recently, SMEL also launched new stainless longs variants. The rollout gave customers more choice in construction, fabrication, and infrastructure projects. At the same time, the company improved delivery schedules and raised capacity utilisation to serve demand more effectively.

Exports continue to drive growth alongside domestic sales. September orders appear promising as international stainless steel demand gains momentum. Executives believe overseas shipments will rise further during the next few months.

SMEL remains confident about its outlook. The company wants to maintain high production, increase efficiency, and expand exports. With fresh innovations, global orders, and record-breaking performance, SMEL says it is building the future of stainless steel.
