Shakti Pumps Stainless Steel Solar Pumps Target Smarter Irrigation

At the recently concluded Krishi Darshan Expo in Hisar, Shakti Pumps (India) Limited showcased its latest stainless steel solar pumps. The company highlighted a claimed 40 per cent higher water output along with improved durability.

Farmers are constantly concerned about water use and the reliability of their equipment. Many are now wondering whether improvements in solar pumping technology could change irrigation practices across India.

Solar pumps designed for modern farming

At the three-day Krishi Darshan Expo hosted by the Northern Region Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute (NRFMTTI), Hisar, Shakti Pumps presented its broad range of solar pumps, covering capacities from 1HP to 250HP. The spotlight remained firmly on the company’s next-generation models, developed specifically for agricultural needs.

A key feature of the showcased pumps was their stainless steel construction, which the company emphasised for its strength and resistance to corrosion. This design choice is particularly relevant for farm environments, where equipment often operates under challenging outdoor conditions. Alongside durability, Shakti Pumps underlined performance benefits, including a claimed 40 per cent increase in water output, simplified maintenance, and suitability for prolonged use.

Experts at the exhibition also looked at how such improvements could help farmers manage irrigation more efficiently while reducing long-term operational concerns.

Micro-irrigation and practical demonstrations

Beyond solar pumps, Shakti Pumps also displayed its micro-irrigation solutions and manufacturing capabilities. The product line included round and flat drip lines, HDPE pipes, sprinkler pipes, and a wide range of micro-irrigation components. These systems are designed to support better water management and improve overall farm efficiency.

Live demonstrations of solar water pumps attracted considerable attention. Farmers and other attendees were able to see the equipment in action, gaining a clearer understanding of potential advantages such as energy savings, steady performance, and minimal maintenance requirements.

Technical experts from the company were present on-site, engaging directly with visitors and offering guidance on adopting modern, water-efficient irrigation practices. Such interactions provided farmers with practical insights into integrating solar pumping systems with micro-irrigation technologies.

Ankit Patidar, Chief Marketing Officer at Shakti Pumps, said that the company engages in finding solutions to ensure their farming needs are easily fulfilled. Also, the company has installed 250,000 pumps across our nation. It is not just a number, but also it represents the livelihoods we have supported and the farms that are becoming more sustainable and productive.”

Expanding role in solar irrigation

With over 250,000 installations reported across multiple states, Shakti Pumps is positioned among the country’s major players in the solar water pump segment. The company attributes its growth to participation in government-led initiatives and off-grid solar programmes.

As farmers increasingly transition away from diesel and conventional grid-based systems, solar-powered pumping solutions are gaining traction. Shakti Pumps continues to focus on supporting this shift by offering energy-efficient, durable, and cost-effective irrigation technologies aimed at improving farm productivity and reducing input costs.
