Jindal Stainless’ Sagarika Soren received the prestigious ‘Wings of Steel’ award by the Indian Steel Association. Her inspiring journey from housekeeping staff to the elite commando team highlights the power of determination and diversity in the workplace.

Sagarika Soren, a member of Jindal Stainless’ Jajpur plant commando team, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Wings of Steel’ accolade by the Indian Steel Association (ISA) under the ‘Gender and Diversity’ category. Steel Secretary Nagendra Nath Sinha presented the award during the 5th edition of the Indian Steel Conclave in New Delhi, recognising her pioneering leadership and inspirational journey.

Soren’s remarkable rise from a housekeeping role to a leadership position in the elite commando team of Jindal Stainless exemplifies determination and hard work. Her journey began in Budhi Khumari village, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, where she had to leave school after matriculation to support her family. Despite the challenges, her dedication and leadership earned her a place in the security team, where she now shines as an inspiring figure.

In addition to the ‘Wings of Steel’ award, Ms. Soren also received the Jury’s Special Award, presented by Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, H D Kumaraswamy, for her perseverance and outstanding achievements. Outside of work, she contributes to her community by educating children in her village.
