Mukand Limited has successfully manufactured its first Coke Bucket and Carriage for the Coke Dry Quenching process, a significant step in sustainable steel production and engineering excellence.
Mukand Limited, a Bajaj Group company and a leader in stainless steel and heavy machinery manufacturing, has achieved a major milestone with the successful production of its first-ever Coke Bucket and Carriage. This critical component is designed for the advanced Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ) process, which replaces traditional wet quenching methods to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions and conserve water while enhancing coke quality in steel manufacturing.
The CDQ system operates by dry cooling coke using nitrogen gas circulation, offering an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient alternative. Mukand’s Coke Bucket and Carriage play a pivotal role in this process, ensuring the seamless transfer of hot coke at temperatures of 1050 ± 50 °C from the coke oven to the CDQ chamber. Built using approximately 100 tons of high-grade steel, the system features a rotary coke bucket and an electric locomotive-powered carriage, further elevating its precision and functionality.
