Jindal Stainless’ Hisar Unit Wins Top Honours at SLECA 2024

Jindal Stainless’ Hisar unit won the first prize in the “Innovation / New Technologies / R&D Projects” category at the State Level Energy Conservation Awards (SLECA) 2024. The Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency organised the event in Chandigarh. Shri A.K. Singh and Dr Ashok Kumar presented the award to the company.

The company welcomed the recognition and highlighted its focus on sustainable manufacturing. Its teams continue to develop new technologies that save energy and improve efficiency across key processes. The Hisar unit also records steady progress in cutting energy use in major industrial operations.

Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal praised the achievement. He said the award reflects the company’s commitment to responsible manufacturing and advanced technology. He added that the team aims to strengthen energy stewardship and support a cleaner industrial ecosystem.

The ceremony took place at the Hyatt Regency in Chandigarh. Leading companies from sectors such as fertilisers, automotive manufacturing, energy services, polymers, plastics, and petroleum refining joined the event. Many organisations shared their experiences in sustainability and energy-efficient systems.

SLECA assesses applicants on several parameters. The list includes energy performance, audits, green building practices, and new ideas for resource management. The state uses the platform to encourage sustainable habits and reward companies that support the national push for energy conservation.

Jindal Stainless remains India’s largest stainless steel producer. The company reported an annual turnover of Rs 40,182 crore (US $4.75 billion) in FY25. It plans to increase its annual melt capacity to 4.2 million tonnes in FY27. Its network covers 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India, Spain and Indonesia. It also operates in 12 countries with ten sales offices and six service centres in India.

Jindal Stainless uses electric arc furnace technology in its plants. The process reduces greenhouse gas emissions and supports sustainable recycling of scrap without losing quality.
