Outokumpu India Marks 20 Years of Stainless Steel Solutions and Industry Partnerships

Outokumpu India has completed 20 years of operations in the country, marking the milestone with a focus on its stainless steel business, customer relationships and industry partnerships.

Rajeev Sherry, Managing Director, Outokumpu,  announced the anniversary in a LinkedIn post, noting that the company has served diverse industries across India with stainless steel solutions over the past two decades. He also acknowledged the contributions of customers, employees, suppliers and business partners to the company’s journey.

The anniversary highlights Outokumpu India’s presence in a market where stainless steel is used across a broad range of industrial and commercial applications. The company’s portfolio serves industries that require materials suited to different operating conditions, including applications involving corrosion resistance, strength and durability.

Outokumpu’s Global Stainless Steel Portfolio

Outokumpu is a global stainless steel producer whose portfolio includes stainless steel grades designed for different environments and applications, alongside specialised products such as ferrochrome and metal powder.

The company’s stainless steel products are used in sectors including energy, automotive and transportation, heavy industry, building and infrastructure, marine applications, and household appliances. The range reflects the material’s role in sectors with varied technical and performance requirements. The company also offers different stainless steel product categories, including cold-rolled and hot-rolled coil, strip and sheet, plate, precision strip and specialised components.

Sustainability in Stainless Steel Production

Sustainability is another focus of Outokumpu’s business strategy. The company states that its stainless steel is manufactured using more than 90% recycled materials on average and reports a carbon footprint of up to 75% lower than the industry average.

These figures reflect the company’s emphasis on recycled raw materials and lower-emission stainless steel production. The material’s recyclability also makes it relevant to circular-economy approaches, in which metals can be recovered and reused rather than discarded at the end of a product’s service life.

The 20-year milestone marks an important point in Outokumpu India’s journey, highlighting its presence in the Indian stainless steel market and its work with customers and industry partners. The company’s continued focus on stainless steel solutions and sustainability remains central to its business across sectors ranging from infrastructure and energy to transportation and heavy industry.
