Assam Floats Tender for Stainless Steel Water Filters in Kokrajhar

The Government of Assam has announced a tender for the supply of stainless steel water filters in Kokrajhar, as part of urban water infrastructure development under a government-funded programme.

The tender has been issued through the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and the Urban Development Town and Country Planning (UDD)–BTC department for the supply of 32-litre stainless steel water filters to the Kokrajhar Municipal Board. The procurement falls under the 15th Finance Commission (Tied Grant) 2nd instalment for FY 2025-26, with the funds to be utilised during 2026-27. The contract is categorised as supply-only, with a work period of 90 days.

According to the tender details, the estimated contract value is ₹0.399 crore, while the tender carries a document fee of ₹800 and requires an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹79,800. The submission deadline is 15 October 2026, with bids scheduled to open on 16 October 2026. The procurement is intended to support the development of public water infrastructure in Kokrajhar, Assam. The tender information notes that the stainless steel water filters are intended to contribute to improved water filtration infrastructure and support public water facilities or community water points.

The Kokrajhar procurement also highlights the use of stainless steel in public water infrastructure, with the material being specified for water filtration units under a municipal supply contract. While the tender is a local procurement, such projects add to the range of infrastructure applications for stainless steel and demonstrate its use in government-funded urban development programmes.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen municipal services in Kokrajhar through the deployment of water filtration infrastructure. The use of stainless steel water filters places the material within a practical public-utility application, connecting stainless steel demand with infrastructure development at the local level.
