Jindal (India) Limited has appointed Dr. Amit Khanna as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), marking a new leadership addition as the company focuses on people capability, productivity and workforce transformation across its manufacturing businesses.
Dr. Amit Khanna brings more than 26 years of experience in human resources, talent management, organisational development and employee engagement across multiple sectors, including steel, aviation, telecommunications, IT and power. His appointment adds extensive cross-industry HR leadership experience to Jindal (India)’s steel and aluminium businesses.
Before joining Jindal (India), Khanna spent nearly 14 years with Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), where he most recently served as AVP and Head – HR. During his tenure, he was involved in HR leadership during major infrastructure initiatives, including the expansion of Terminal 1, commissioning of Terminal 2 and development of a new runway. He also held responsibilities spanning talent management, HR operations and organisational development.
Earlier in his career, Khanna held senior HR roles at Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services and NTPC Limited. This experience has given him exposure to different organisational environments, from large-scale infrastructure and power operations to technology, telecommunications and aviation.
In a post announcing his move, Khanna said his new role will involve working across Jindal India’s steel and aluminium businesses, with a focus on people, capability, productivity, workforce transformation and business growth. He described the move as a transition from aviation into steel and aluminium manufacturing.
For India’s steel and stainless steel ecosystem, the appointment comes at a time when manufacturing organisations are increasingly placing emphasis on workforce capability, leadership development and productivity alongside technology and operational expansion. Khanna’s cross-sector experience is expected to bring a broader organisational perspective to Jindal (India)’s people and capability agenda.
Khanna holds an MBA from Kurukshetra University and a PhD in Business Administration and Management from Dayalbagh Educational Institute.
The appointment is in effect from August 2026.
