India’s stainless steel industry continues to strengthen its manufacturing footprint as Venus Pipes & Tubes Limited (VPTL) has officially commenced production at its new stainless steel pipe and tube manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

The newly commissioned plant adds significant production capabilities to the company’s seamless stainless steel portfolio, with an installed capacity of 4,200 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) for seamless pipes and tubes, along with an additional 4,000 MTPA capacity for mother hollow pipes. Following this expansion, VPTL’s total seamless pipe and tube production capacity has now reached 6,000 MTPA.

The expansion marks a major step in the company’s forward and backward integration strategy, enabling it to strengthen its presence in value-added stainless steel product segments. Alongside the seamless pipe and tube capacity addition, the company has also commissioned a new fittings manufacturing facility, positioning itself as a more comprehensive stainless steel piping solutions provider.

According to the company, the enhanced manufacturing infrastructure is expected to support growing demand from critical sectors including power, oil & gas, chemicals, engineering, data centres, semiconductor manufacturing, and infrastructure development. The move also aligns with the rising domestic demand for high-performance stainless steel tubular products driven by industrial expansion and energy projects across India.

Industry observers believe the expansion will further strengthen Gujarat’s position as a key hub for stainless steel processing and tube manufacturing in India. Strategically located manufacturing units in the state benefit from strong port connectivity, export infrastructure, and access to industrial clusters, making Gujarat an increasingly attractive destination for stainless steel investments.

The latest development also reflects the broader momentum in India’s tube and pipe sector, where manufacturers are rapidly investing in advanced production capabilities, automation, and value-added product categories to cater to both domestic and international markets. The sector is witnessing increasing demand from industries seeking corrosion-resistant, durable, and high-strength stainless steel solutions for critical applications.
