Jindal Stainless inaugurates its first stainless steel fabrication unit in Washivali, Patalganga, Mumbai. The company invested around Rs 125 crore in the four lakh square ft facility. The new unit, developed under Jindal Stainless Steelway Limited (JSSL), will cater to India’s growing bridge sector.
The new unit will focus on fabricating different types of girders and other vital components. Therefore, the company aims to support the rising demand for modern and sustainable bridge infrastructure across the country.
By FY27, JSSL expects the facility to reach an annual fabrication capacity of 18,000 tonnes. Currently, it plans to produce about 4,000 tonnes in this financial year. Moreover, the company believes this unit will help offer complete stainless steel solutions under one roof.
Jindal Stainless said the facility marks a key step in strengthening its position as both a material supplier and a fabrication solutions provider. The company also plans to expand similar fabrication facilities to other regions across India in the near future. As part of its ESG goals, the Mumbai unit will add solar power in the next phase to make operations more sustainable.
Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer Tarun Khulbe inaugurated the unit, along with senior company leaders. He noted that a shortage of trained fabricators has limited the full potential of stainless steel in infrastructure. Hence, the new facility aims to bridge this gap by combining quality materials, skilled manpower and efficient processes. As a result, the company expects to deliver reliable, timely and high-quality solutions.
In FY25, the company recorded an annual turnover of Rs 40,182 crore. It aims to reach an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes by FY27. Additionally, as of March 2025, Jindal Stainless operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities in India and abroad, including in Spain and Indonesia. It currently has a presence in 12 countries worldwide.
