Strategic Procurement Professional Neerav Parmar Highlights the Need to Break Cost Myths Around Stainless Steel
As the stainless steel industry looks to expand its adoption across sectors, creating greater awareness around the material’s value and cost competitiveness will be critical, believes Neerav Parmar, a strategic procurement professional and member of the National Advisory Committee. Speaking at the Virgo * ISSDA Strategic Partnership Announcement for Global Stainless Steel Expo, he highlighted the need to challenge existing perceptions around stainless steel and strengthen industry engagement.
According to Parmar, while stainless steel holds significant future potential, the perception that it is not cost-effective remains a barrier to wider adoption. He emphasised that industry platforms such as GSSE can play an important role in addressing this perception by creating greater awareness and bringing stakeholders together.

Parmar also highlighted the scale of preparation behind the upcoming edition of GSSE. As a member of the National Advisory Committee, he noted that stakeholders have been involved in shaping the event, with preparations beginning more than a year and a half ahead of the exhibition. He believes this extended preparation can help the event build on its previous edition and achieve greater industry impact.
Another key focus, he said, should be strengthening international collaboration. Bringing more overseas manufacturers and industry stakeholders to the platform can enable the exchange of experiences from different markets, creating greater awareness around stainless steel and its applications.
With stronger industry participation, international collaboration and greater awareness, Parmar believes GSSE can help challenge existing perceptions and create fresh momentum for the stainless steel industry.
