Stainless steel producer Jindal Stainless reports a major jump in its global sustainability ranking for FY25. The company secures an ESG score of 78 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Corporate Sustainability Assessment. It now stands in the top five per cent of steel companies worldwide. It also ranks fourth in the global steel sector and first in the stainless steel category.
The score increases sharply from 60 in FY24. This rise shows the company’s fast shift towards transparent and responsible growth. It also reflects its progress in building long-term value through sustainable action.
Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal says this recognition marks a proud moment for the company. He adds that the achievement shows the team’s commitment to innovation, people, and the planet. He also says sustainability guides every daily action and aligns with the company’s Vision 2030 goals.
The company performed strongly across all ESG areas. It scored 83 in Environmental, 73 in Social, and 76 in Governance and Economic. These figures rise well above the industry averages of 37, 35, and 36. The company also reported a data availability rate of 97 per cent and earned a full score in transparency and reporting.
Chief Sustainability Officer Kalyan Bhattacherjee says the strong ESG score comes from deep integration of sustainable practices. He notes major work in climate strategy, water and waste management, energy efficiency, biodiversity, and employee safety. He adds that efforts in information security, risk management, and business ethics also support this result.
Jindal Stainless received more recognition in FY25. It became the only steel company to win the Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability. This honour highlights its progress in ESG leadership and reporting standards.
The company also reported a 14 per cent drop in GHG emissions during the year. It achieved this through Odisha’s largest captive solar plant, energy-saving upgrades, and supply-chain digitisation. It also expanded its community programmes in education, healthcare, and skills training around its plants.
