Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals strengthens its precision rolling capabilities with the acquisition of ATI’s operations in New Bedford, MA, and Remscheid, Germany.
Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, a global leader in precision metal products, has announced the acquisition of ATI’s precision rolled strip operations located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Remscheid, Germany. This strategic move significantly expands Ulbrich’s global footprint and enhances its precision re-rolling capabilities.
Under Ulbrich’s ownership, these facilities will operate as Ulbrich Precision Alloys in New Bedford, MA, and Ulbrich Europe Metals in Remscheid, Germany. These additions are a key milestone in Ulbrich’s growth strategy, enabling the company to strengthen its offerings in light-gauge, wide-width nickel alloys, titanium, and specialty stainless steel.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ulbrich Precision Alloys and Ulbrich Europe Metals to the family,” said Chris Ulbrich, CEO and Chairman of the board. “These acquisitions are a transformative step in our journey, and we believe that all roads lead to Ulbrich as we continue to expand our product offerings for an ever-growing precision strip market.”
Strengthening capabilities in precision rolling
The acquired facilities are set to bolster Ulbrich’s position in the global market by offering:
- Enhanced precision re-rolling capabilities.
- Expanded product lines in high-performance alloys, including light-gauge and wide-width options.
- Seamless support for customers from R&D to full-scale production.
This acquisition ensures customers will continue to receive the metallurgical expertise and responsiveness Ulbrich is known for, while benefiting from new synergies across the company’s divisions.
Strategic realignment
ATI, a prominent producer of high-performance materials for aerospace, defence, electronics, and medical industries, sold its precision rolled strip operations as part of a broader strategic realignment.
Ulbrich has committed to maintaining the product lines and service quality previously offered by ATI, providing a seamless transition for existing and new customers.
Jon Ulbrich, President of Ulbrich’s Service Center Group, expressed gratitude for the new team members joining from both facilities. “We’re grateful to the employees at both facilities for joining the Ulbrich team,” he said. “We look forward to servicing new markets and customers with these acquisitions.”
